Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SalaryGlobe.
How does SalaryGlobe calculate take-home pay?
We apply the selected country's progressive income tax brackets, then subtract mandatory social security contributions, pension deductions, and any regional or local taxes. The result is your estimated net (take-home) salary.
Is SalaryGlobe free to use?
Yes — all calculators are completely free. No account, no subscription, and no data stored.
How accurate are the tax estimates?
Our numbers are based on publicly available tax brackets and contribution rates. They are excellent for planning and comparing countries, but they are estimates. For filing your actual taxes, always consult a qualified professional.
Does SalaryGlobe store my salary information?
No. All calculations happen in your browser. We never see, collect, or store your salary data.
Which countries are supported?
We currently support 10 countries: USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland. More are added regularly.
Can I compare salaries between countries?
Yes — run the calculator for different countries and compare the net pay side by side. We also show how your salary compares to national averages.
Do the calculators include bonuses or stock options?
The current version calculates base salary only. Bonus and equity taxation varies widely — we recommend consulting a tax advisor for those scenarios.
How often are tax rates updated?
We update tax brackets and social security rates at least once per calendar year. The site displays the current tax year being used.
Can I use this for self-employed or freelance income?
The calculators are optimized for employees. Self-employed tax structures differ significantly and are not currently supported.
I found a bug or have a feature idea. How do I report it?
